| Biography: |
Larkins, 6-foot, 195, was a highly regarded player coming out of Oakland Tech. He was a three-time Oakland Athletic League selection. He also was a PrepStar.com all-American and PrepStar.com Top 10 Dream Team. Additionally, he was ranked 11th in the Rivals.com Top 20 and 16th in the SuperPrep.comTop 20. Rivals.com rated him as the 23rd best player at any position in California and he was ranked 31st in the Super West 60 by Rivals.com. NorCal Prep ranked him eighth among all players in Northern California and he was an all-Far West selection by SuperPrep, which listed him 36th in California.
He earned those accolades with a stellar high school career that included 17 interceptions and 29 sacks. He doubled as a receiver with 1,200 yards in receptions. He was chosen to play in the CaliFlorida Bowl, which matches the best high school players from California and Florida.
Larkins continued his impressive efforts at Laney, where he earned first-team all-conference recognition as a freshman, an effort he was prevented from repeating because of an injury last fall –although he did play in every game during Laney’s 10-1 Mid-Empire Conference championship season.
