On December 20, 2006 Robb was named the 33rd head coach at the University of Idaho, taking over for departed head coach Dennis Erickson who left Idaho to take over as head coach at Arizona State. Robb was the defensive coordinator at WSU since 2003, and this year coached All-American defensive end Mkristo Bruce.
