I haven’t been to practice yet this week but I refuse to believe that Jake Locker won’t answer the bell come Saturday at the Rose Bowl. He is a tough kid and he will lead his team to this important victory. He will make himself well and then go out and play his heart out. He knows how important he is to this team and he will be there. Full Story

SEATTLE - Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times was nice enough to sit down with Chris Fetters of Dawgman.com and hash out where the Washington Huskies are after the first eight games of their 2009 season, who has stood out, who has surprised and where the Huskies go from here on out. Can they make it to a bowl game with games against teams like UCLA and WSU on the horizon? Full Story

SEATTLE - Out of the fog, and straight back in. At least that's how it felt Saturday at Husky Stadium, as all the potential for Washington to make its way back into the Pac-10 race and bowl contention were completely blown to bits by an Oregon team bigger, faster and better prepared. The Hustling Huskies of Montlake never quit, but there were times during the second half where it looked dodgy. Full Story

Low numbers and big expectations are nothing new to Dan Cozzetto. When the Washington Huskies traveled to Tempe, Ariz. this past weekend, they had more defensive linemen than offensive linemen. They had as many defensive backs as offensive linemen. With Greg Christine out for the year, the line coach had to look to the other side of the ball to find an answer.

SEATTLE - The numbers aren't pretty. When looking at the statistics for Washington's defense in 2009, there's one thought that keeps getting recycled; they look an awful lot like 2008's defensive numbers. But that team was 0-12 and the 2009 Huskies are 3-3 and looking for more wins. How can that be? Full Story

PALO ALTO - With six minutes left in the game and Stanford up 34-14, out came the obligatory 'OVERRATED' chant, courtesy of the Red Zone, Stanford's student section. They were right. The No. 24 Washington Huskies came into Saturday night's game riding a wave of emotion after beating No. 3 USC, and in turn they took a Toby Gerhart uppercut right on the chin at Stanford Stadium. Winning is everything, but in some cases that coveted 'w' can bring even more to the table. For the staff at Washington, each win creates some much-needed purchase within the team; a marker, if you will. After Saturday's 16-13 thrilling victory against No. 3 USC at Husky Stadium, the team has regrouped this week and the coaches have come to practice with plenty of currency. Full Story

Don't blame Justin Glenn just because he's pretty good at something. As a cornerback, having the ability to defend on an island and tackle is a big part of the job. But as a free safety, it's the biggest thing. In the middle of the field, it's the job of the free safety to stop the big play, to keep the defense on the field, to be the last man standing. It only took Steve Sarkisian two minutes and 32 seconds before he had his first 'uh oh' moment. The No. 3 USC Trojans had sliced and diced his Washington Huskies like they were in an infomercial for Slap Chop, with Joe McKnight, Stafon Johnson and Stanley Havili starring as Vince. But the Huskies didn't give up. Full Story
