Idaho comeback falls short at Ohio

THE VANDALS BATTLED BACK from a 17-0 second quarter deficit with a big third quarter effort to pull within 20-17 at the start of the fourth quarter. But when the Bobcats needed scores late in the game, Idaho couldn't get a stop. Despite throwing three picks (one a tipped ball at the line), MATT LINEHAN was poised while throwing for 353 yards and two touchdowns, completing 33-of-55 attempts.

VANDAL GAMEDAY: Idaho at Ohio

ON THE HEELS OF A FRUSTRATING home opening loss to Western Michigan last weekend, Idaho hits the road to take on another Mid-American Conference opponent in Ohio University. The Bobcats (1-2) opened the season with a win at Kent State, but have dropped consecutive games to Kentucky and Marshall, while Idaho (0-2) will try to finally break into the win column (LIVE on ESPN3, 4:00PM PST kickoff).

Vandals drop home opener to Western Michigan

ALTHOUGH IDAHO REDSHIRT FRESHMAN quarterback Matt Linehan threw for over 300 yards for the second consecutive week, including hitting wide receiver JOSHUA MCCAIN on this 75-yard 4th quarter touchdown, the Vandals fell short in their 45-33 home opening loss to Western Michigan. Notably, Idaho's defense could not stop WMU tailback Jarvian Franklin who carved up the Vandals for 210 rushing yards.

Oh, so close

IDAHO REDSHIRT FRESHMAN quarterback MATT LINEHAN got the starting nod Saturday night against ULM in a Sun Belt Conference matchup, and very nearly walked away with the win. Idaho battled back from a 10-point deficit at the start the 4th quarter to tie the game at 31-31 with 4:22 remaining. But with just 9 seconds left in the game the Warhawks punched it in for the go-ahead score and a 38-31 win.

VANDAL GAMEDAY: Idaho @ UL-Monroe

SEASON OPENER, PART DEUX. On the heels of a nice payday, the Vandals left The Swamp with an unblemished 0-0 record when their tilt with Florida was washed out after the first, weather-delayed play. This weekend the Vandals head to Bayou Country to take on the University of Louisiana at Monroe in a Sun Belt Conference early season match-up with the Warhawks (LIVE on ESPN3, 4:00PM PST kickoff).

Florida-Idaho agree to play in 2017

AFTER SATURDAY'S LENGTHY weather delay ultimately led to the Idaho-Florida game being cancelled after just one play, the two schools announced Wednesday afternoon that the game would be declared "no contest" and that it would not be rescheduled this season. Instead the programs are working out the terms to play again at Florida in 2017.

Idaho-Florida game terminated

AFTER HOURS OF WEATHER DELAYS due to lightning strikes within eight miles of the stadium, Saturday's game between Idaho and Florida finally kicked off. But because of poor field conditions after hours of heavy rainfall, the game was immediately terminated by officials after Florida's long opening kick return put the ball on Idaho's 20 yard line. Officials will decide this week what to do next.

VANDAL GAMEDAY: Idaho @ Florida

THE VANDALS OPEN THE 2014 SEASON Saturday on the road at traditional SEC and national power Florida, and both sophomore Chad Chalich (11) and redshirt freshman Matt Linehan (10) will get their chances under center. The Gators hold the nation's second longest opening game win streak at 24 games, and will be looking to avenge a frustrating 2013 season (LIVE on ESPN-U, 4:00PM PST kickoff).

Depth Chart continues to evolve

AN OFFICIAL UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO Depth Chart has not yet been released as extensive player rotation continues mid-way through fall camp. The Vandals picked up some more defensive line help in the form of noseguard Alfonso Hampton and defensive end Kaylyn Ayers, and youngsters throughout the depth chart continue to make an impact.

Images from first scrimmage

SATURDAY MORNING THE VANDALS took to the practice fields in front of the Iverson Strength and Speed Center for the first scrimmage of fall camp. Substitutions across the board were liberal as Idaho's staff searches for the best combination of athletes on both sides of the ball.

A look at Idaho's receiving units

AS MUCH ATTENTION AS PUT ON THE VANDAL OFFENSIVE LINE, an equal amount of interest lies in the players who will help move the chains through the air. Idaho's tightend depth chart, which includes junior JARED KLINGENBERG (84) and sophomore ERIC LEMKE (32), should be competitive throughout fall camp, as will be the fullback and wide receiver rotations.

Position battles all around

THE VANDALS START THE PROCESS of transitioning into full pads. Few positions are "locked up" at this point, including what is shaping up to be a lively battle for starting quarterback. Returning starter CHAD CHALICH (11) is back under center, but redshirt freshman Matt Linehan and true freshman Jake Luton are getting heavy reps. Gaylen Wood was on hand and files these images from the action.
