All League Wide Receiver Signs With Idaho

GoVandals.net learned this morning that Alhambra High School standout wide receiver MITCHELL CROCKOM (6-2, 187) signed an LOI to the University of Idaho. A First-Team All Almont League selection, Crockom (ranked the No.214 wide receiver in the nation by Scout.com) hauled in nine touchdowns to roundout a stellar senior season (including three picks and 51 tackles from his defensive back position).

Pasadena Star-News Preps Editor Miguel Melendez is reporting this morning that Alhambra standout wide receiver Mitchell Crockom -- a recruit that had been on the Idaho radar for months -- has signed an LOI with Idaho. In an advance on a story that will appear later, Melendez told GoVandals.net that coach Gil Ruedaflores confirmed that Mitchell Crockom signed to Idaho early this morning at 9 a.m. PST. Crockom had been waiting for his SAT scores and got the great news yesterday that he had achieved a qualifying score (according to Ruedaflores). Also in the mix for Crockom's services was an offer from Eastern Michigan, plus two additional offers reported by Scout.com from New Mexico State and UNLV early in the recruiting cycle. Crockom's senior statistics this year were outstanding, including 43 receptions for 672 yards and nine touchdowns in 2009 from his wide receiver position, matched by 51 tackles, six deflections and three picks defensively. He was a three year starter at Alhambra, and reports a top 40 time of 4.5 and 10.7 in the 100m.

The effort earned him First Team All-Almont honors this year, as well as being named to the WAVE All-Northeast Region Team.

Idaho will be lookinig to replace senior standout receivers Maurice Shaw and Eric Greenwood after the 2010 season, and the addition of a talented freshman like Crockom who can develop in the system and potentially earn playing time as a true freshman, joining JC transfer Armauni Johnson in this recruiting class, is an impressive start.
