This afternoon the University of Idaho announced that the kickoff for Idaho's home game with the Colorado State Rams on October 3rd has been moved to 7:30 PM PST to accommodate live coverage on ESPN U. This Dad's Weekend matchup will be the sixth all-time meeting between the Rams and Vandals.
We aren't getting ahead of ourselves here, the highest priority for the Vandals this week is focusing on their battle at
Northern Illinois
this Saturday. We realize that is the focus and don't want to detract from that.
However, the
Idaho
Sports Information Department announced this afternoon that the game time for Idaho's October 3rd Dad's Weekend home matchup in the renovated Dome with
Colorado State
has been moved to 7:30pm PST to accommodate live coverage on ESPN-U.
This will be the second Mountain West Conference team to visit the Dome this season, with the Vandals having dispatched the
San Diego State
Aztecs 34-20 last weekend in the home opener for Idaho.
Colorado State leads the all-time series 3-2, and this will mark the first time the Rams have played at Idaho in Moscow since 1973 (a 33-30 Idaho loss). Two years before, the Vandals beat the Rams 10-0 in 1971 in a game played in Spokane. And of course, the Vandals won the last meeting, a thrilling come-from-behind 37-34 victory in 1992 in Fort Collins (CO).

In addition to being carried live on national TV on ESPNU - the first time in years at Idaho - this is going to be an enormous game for the Vandals, and a key to the 2009 season. Make your plans to attend today.
The football game isn't the only schedule affected. Because of the time change for the football game, it was announced this afternoon that the Vandals' Oct. 3 Volleyball match against Fresno State will start at 1 p.m. in Memorial Gym. This will be the Vandals' home opener and first match of the WAC season.
Everyone should have time to take in the volleyball match BEFORE the CSU game, as well as all the pre-gamge festivities as the U of I celebrates Dad's Weekend.
Okay, now we can focus on THIS WEEK'S critical matchup with Northern Illinois. Check back for a pregame writeup later this week, with analysis and team news.
