At the midway point of spring drills, redshirt freshman defensive lineman HENRY ASUEGA (6-1, 288) and the Vandal football team battle for position on the depth chart in preparation for the 2009 season. Inside is a first look at several new players (redshirts, grayshirts, and enrolled transfers), including a few players who made position changes, who will be looking to make an impact this fall.

Junior wide receiver QUIN ASHLEY (#12, 5-10, 204) settles in at wide receiver this spring and battles All-WAC safety SHILOH KEO (red jersey, 5-10, 212).

Grayshirt freshman kicker TREY FARQUHAR will take over fieldgoal and kickoff duties this year for graduating All-WAC selection Tino Amancio.
Senior tailback DEMAUNDRAY WOOLRIDGE, a transfer from Washington State and a bruising standout for the Cougs who sat out last season, will be looking to make an impact this fall at Idaho.
Defensive linemen FONOMANU SEKONA (#43, 6-2, 282, Jr.) and OGA FAUMUI (6-2, 294, Sr.) look on during drills.
Strong safety SHILOH KEO (5-10, 212), an All-WAC pick in 2007 who missed virtually all of last season with an injury, talks to Defensive Coordinator MARK CRINER.
True sophomore defensive end CHARLES SMITH (#96, 6-5, 252) is battling for a starting role in 2009 on the Vandal defensive front.
It's out of focus, but junior wide receiver and kick returner DEWEY HALE (#16, 5-10, 194) shows off his mad hops on a route good for a big gain last week.
