DAVID VOBORA - one of the top linebackers ever to suit up for the Vandals - is in Los Angeles training for the NFL Combine, and received a call Sunday night informing him that he was chosen as a late entry to play in the East-West Shrine Game. Look for David this Saturday, January 19th at 6pm (CST) on ESPN2.
Twice he led the Western Athletice Conference in tackles each of the last two seasons, and TWICE he was selected a First Team All-WAC selection at linebacker.
And now our sources tell us
David Vobora
appears to be headed to Houston as a participant in the East-West Shrine Game. The game is scheduled for this Saturday, January 19th at 6pm CST at Robertson Stadium on the campus of the University of Houston.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2.
Every year since 1925, the East-West Shrine Game has been played to help raise money and awareness for Shriners Hospitals for Children, an international network of 22 pediatric specialty hospitals that provide care for children with orthopaedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries and cleft lip and palate - all at no charge. To date, the game has helped raise more than $14 million and informed millions of people about the mission of this extraordinary philanthropy.
The 82nd East-West Shrine Game in 2007 included 37 players who were selected in the NFL Draft this past April, while an additional 51 players were later signed as free agent. Former Cougar standout
Jackie Battle
was a member of the West Team in 2007 and later signed a free-agent contract with the
Dallas Cowboys
