Although Idaho's offense struggled yesterday, redshirt freshman tailback DEONTE JACKSON passed the 1000-yard mark for the season and Idaho led this game 16-14 in the fourth quarter thanks to a tremendous defensive and special teams effort. But Idaho's inability to score took its toll as the Bulldogs mounted two fourth quarter TD drives for the 28-16 win. (All images inside by Larry Johnson)

GO.VANDALS.NET SALUTES: Idaho redshirt freshman tailback Deonte Jackson carried the ball 15 times Saturday for 44 hard-fought yards against Louisiana Tech in front of 10,479 fans inside the Kibbie Dome. Jackson has now eclipsed the 1,000 yard mark for the season, and at 1,016 yards rushing is the No. 32 running back in the Nation despite the fact that defenses are now loading the box to stop him. He is also the Nation's No. 3 "freshman" tailback, behind LeSean McCoy of Pittsburg and Knowshon Moreno of Georgia. Within the WAC, he is the conference's No. 2 overall rusher. An impressive season statistically by just about any measure for the nephew of Stephen Jackson of the NFL's St. Louis Rams. IDAHO INSIDER: The UI single-season rushing record is 1,393 yards set by Devon Pearce in 1990. He needs to surpass 1,111 yards for the year to crack the Idaho Single-Season Top 10.

GOVANDALS.NET SALUTES: Idaho sophomore strong safety Shiloh Keo, one of the team's leaders all season, finished another impressive game with seven tackles on the day (second on the team), while also returning three punts for a total of 54 yards. For the season his four interceptions ties him for second in the WAC. His impact is enormous as a punt returner too (his record setting 100 yard punt return earlier this year among his exploits this season). Currently he is ranked the No. 4 Punt Returner in the Nation, averaging an impressive 18.94 yards per return. If he continues at this pace, he will set a new UI record (currently 16.5 yards per return set by Richard Carey in 1988). IDAHO INSIDER: Per our UI Record Book, his 303 yards in punt returns already this season is a new UI record (previously 302 yards set by Kelly Courage set in 1971)!

GO.VANDALS.NET SALUTES: Idaho junior place kicker Tino Amancio converted all three attempts Saturday (39, 34, and 24 yards) and kicked Idaho to their fourth quarter lead. For the season he is ranked No. 58 in the Nation, converting on 75% of his attempts. In all fairness, his losses were of the monster length variety, with three of his four (only!) misses coming from 44-yards or more. Twice this year he has converted from 50 yards or more. His 51-yarder is the third longest kick in the WAC this year. IDAHO INSIDER: Tino could top Idaho's career field goal percentage. This year he's connected on 75% attempts, and last year he converted 70.6%. Idaho's career conversion percentage leader is Tim McMonigle with 65.4%.

GO VANDALS.NET SALUTES: Senior linebacker David Vobora has been phenominal for the second season in a row, and Saturday was no different. Vobora finished Saturday's game against La Tech with 14 tackles (leading all tacklers), ALL of which were solo stops. He also recorded one tackle for loss, recovered a fumble (above), and a quarterback hurry. With two games left in the season Vobora has 124 total tackles, including 74 solo tackles. He is the nations No. 2 tackler overall, and is No. 3 in the country in solo tackles. IDAHO INSIDER: David needs 4 more tackles to break into the Idaho single-season Top 10 for the second year in a row. His 318 career tackles currently ranks him 6th All-Time at Idaho.

Senior tailback Brian Flowers finished the game with 21 yards rushing on 7 carries and is currently the teams second leading rusher with 253 yards on the season.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Nathan Enderle had a tough go of it this weekend, completing just 16 of 48 passes for 188 yards, including a long of 51 yards. He was intercepted three times and sacked twice. The strong-armed youngster is taking his lumps under fire this season, but has thrown for 1,414 yards on the year with 9 touchdowns against 15 picks.

Sophomore wide receiver Max Komar led the Vandals with 96 yards on just 5 receptions on the afternoon, including being on the receiving end of Enderle's 51 yard completion. For the season Komar is Idaho's leading receiver with 405 receptions and four touchdowns. Komar is currently ranked 18th in the conference in total yards on the season.

True freshman cornerback Isaac Butts, a 6-0, 167-pound athlete out of Richland (WA), has seen significant playing time the last six weeks at cornerback and on special teams. This week the versatile athlete registered the first catch of his Vandal career when he hauled in a 30-yard pass from punter (and backup quarterback) T.J. Conley in the second quarter. The play erased a 4th-and-20 situation on the Idaho 10-yard line when Idaho lined up to punt and made the gutsy call to keep the drive alive.

True freshman wide receiver Maurice Shaw finished the game with three receptions for 33 yards and a long of 19-yards. For the season Shaw is Idaho's third leading recever with a total of 23 receptions for 276 yards, including a long of 26 yards and two touchdowns. He also is Idaho's top outside rusher on the punt defense team, and has at least one partial block to his credit along with several near blocks.

Redshirt freshman defensive end Jonathan Faraimo (45) and senior nose guard Siua Musika (91) combined to force this fumble while attempting to sack La Tech quarterback Zac Championi. Junior defensive tackle / defensive end Josh Shaw was also there and scooped up the fumble in the endzone for Idaho's only touchdown on the day.
