When the Vandals take the field in just over a week in East Lansing against Michigan State of the Big Ten, the starting runningback will be Idaho's own JAYSON BIRD. A redshirt sophomore out of Shelley (Ida.), Bird burst onto the scene as a true freshman and finished with 850 yards rushing. He's back from a season ending injury that ended his '05 season in the second game, and is ready to go.

Jayson Bird was one of the first three recruits to verbally commit to Nick Holt in 2004, Holt's first year at Idaho.
