The Idaho Vandals, playing before a boisterous Homecoming crowd Saturday night, defeated the Utah State Aggies 27-13 for Idaho's first win of the season. The victory improved Idaho's conference mark to 1-1 on the season, and balanced the all-time series record with USU at 15-15-2 with Vandal wins in four of the last six meetings.

With junior
Hank Therien
at right tackle, the Vandals went into Saturday's Homecoming battle with a line that included a true freshman, two redshirt freshmen, a sophomore, and a junior. The group started every offensive snap for the Vandals and paved the way for 339 yards of offense, gaining 5.1 yards per play.

Sophomore outside linebacker
Josh Bousman
was Idaho's leading tackler Saturday, and just missed sacking the quarterback on this play. He finished with 10 tackles, 2 tackles for loss...and a sack.

Sophomore defensive end
Benjamin Alexander
was not late on this sack attempt as the
Utah State
lineman responsible for blocking Ben looks on. Ben finished with 3 tackles and a sack.

Sophomore running back
Rolly Lumbala
crosses the goal line on a 12-yard TD reception in the second quarter, scoring his second TD of the first half. Lumbala finished one of the best games of his young career, gaining 73 yards on 21 carries, and 21 yards on 3 receptions, scoring 2 TDs in the game.

True freshman runningback
Jason Brown
continues to show improvement each week since moving over to running back from safety the week of the
Washington
game. Saturday Jason rushed 14 times for 42 yards with a long of 9 yards on the game.

Junior wide receiver
Wendell Octave
was Idaho's leading receiver Saturday, gaining 78 yards on 5 receptions with a long of 21 yards.
