Keith's fight for his own life is bringing together not only the fans and alumni of the University of Idaho, but the college football nation as a whole. We all continue to hope and pray for Keith and the Greer family that he will make a full recovery soon.
MOSCOW, Idaho (9-24-03) - University of Idaho sophomore
Keith Greer
has been upgraded to satisfactory condition and has been moved out of intensive care to a regular ward at Seattle's Harborview Medical Center.
Greer had been intensive care at Harborview since Aug. 31 when he developed Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome after surgery to repair his broken right leg. He initially was listed in critical condition. He was upgraded to serious on Sept. 10 as he continued to make progress.
Last weekend, he gradually was removed from a ventilator as he began to breathe on his own.
Greer's family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. A fund has been set up for Greer and his family. Donations to the Keith Greer Benefit Fund can be made at any
FirstBank
branch or via mail to the Moscow branch at:
FirstBank
201 S. Jackson Street
Moscow, Idaho, 83843
They also can be made at the Boise branch, which is located at 1412 W. Idaho Street.
A NATION SPEAKS
Below is a link to the Spokesman Review article that appeared last Saturday morning, which was pasted to our message board. If you go to the link, you will find a mostly complete list of well wishings from around the country. The outpouring has been remarkable, extending from California to Illinois, and Iowa to Alabama.
Our own region (particularly Boise State, Washington State and Washington), in concert with the Vandal family, are all pulling for Keith and his family for his rapid and complete recovery.
Below is the link to the story (I've added a few of the messages from around the nation below).
Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers.
Keith Greer Article
It's terrible that it takes a tragedy like this to make us all step back and put things in perspective. I know I speak for all Idahoans, BSU and UI alike, when I say I hope this young man is up and about ASAP. Godspeed.
