A New Beginning

With his season now over after a first round exit in the playoffs, Tere Calloway has much to be thankful for as he reflects back to his High School career. For Calloway, this is not the end, but the start of another journey. He talks about the road ahead, upcoming official visits, and his thoughts on the upcoming all-star game in this interview with GoldenEaglePride.com.

Tere Calloway's High School career has come to an end. The star running back and defensive back for Seattle (WA)'s Prep has played his final game at this level.

A few days after the loss, he said it is hard to find the emotions.

"We were knocked out in the first round," he said. "We had a tough loss but overall it was a good season. I was real happy with how I played especially after the injury.

"I was able to finish 100%, and now I'm getting ready for the Semper Fi all-star game coming up."

"Surprisingly, it really hasn't settled in. Part of it has to do with the fact that I know I'll be playing Division One football, so I think it would be a different feeling if I didn't have that in front of me. I feel like its just a step to the NFL, so I'm happy to be moving on though I'll certainly miss it and my teammates."

Calloway now has the great honor of being selected to the Semper Fi all-star game, one of three that are held post-season.

"Its a huge honor for me," he said. "Growing up that was my dream. Every year I watched it and wanted to one day play in it. It shows I am one of the top 300 players in the country and one of the top 30 defensive backs in the country."

As he also sets his sights on playing at the next level, his decision will come down to what happens on his official visits coming up.

"I'm still where I was a few weeks ago," he said. "I have a few officials. I am going to Colorado State December 1st, and on the 7th I'm going down to Southern Miss in Hattiesburg."

He talked further about the visit with the Golden Eagles.

"I'm actually taking my visit with current commit James Cox," he said. "He hit me up this week and we've been talking a lot. He really wants me to be a part of the Golden Eagle program, so I'm excited to see the town, campus, and facilities. I've never been to campus so I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone there.

"I've said I'm not making a decision until I see all the schools in person, so that is a huge visit for me."
