THIS WEEKEND MARKS THE LAST HOME STAND for three Idaho seniors. Led by forward DJIM BANDOUMEL, plus guards Landon Tatum and Deremy Geiger (all starters), Idaho (15-11, 7-4 WAC), is riding a four game win streak and will take on Portland State (13-12, 7-6 Big Sky) in the Sears BracketBusters matchup at the Cowan Spectrum (7:05pm PST tipoff). Inside we salute this group and their accomplishments.
OFFICIAL IDAHO PREGAME
Under head coach Don Verlin, Idaho is a remarkable 3-0 in Senior Night games. Saturday night the Vandals take on Portland State of the Big Sky Conference, a team that despite their close proximity the Vandals have only played 18 times, and only twice since 1980. The Vikings hold a 10-8 advantage in the series, and won the last meeting in 2005, in a rare 61-59 close contest.
The Vandals come in as the No.3 team in the WAC with a 15-11 overall mark and 7-4 WAC record. Statistically the Vandals are ranked No.25 in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage (38.8%), No.26 in field goal percentage from the floor (47.8%), and No.59 in blocked shots (4.3 per game). The Vandals are well-balanced between the front and back court, and are led by a mature group of three seniors who have put the team first throughout their career in Moscow.
For this weekend we salute Idaho's seniors.
