THE VANDALS, NEEDING TO JUMP OUT TO A FAST START AGAINST RED HOT OREGON STATE, did so at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis (Ore.) Friday night, with the Vandals bolting out to an 11-point lead at the half. Idaho (5-4) would go on to be OSU (6-2) by a final score of 74-60, led by senior guard DEREMY GEIGER'S game- and career-high 27-points on the night. It was the 173rd meeting between the schools.
GAME NOTES:
Friday's game with
Oregon State
was the 173rd meeting between the schools. OSU owns a 120-53 advantage in the series, but
Idaho
has won their last two games with OSU, including knocking the Beavers off in a 2002 overtime thriller, 76-73.
Senior guard
Deremy Geiger
was unstoppable Friday at Gill Coliseum, scoring a career-high and game-high 27-points on the night, including an incredible 7-of-9 from three point range. His timely shots - often in response to OSU scores - helped Idaho maintain a sizable lead over the Beavers much of the night.
True freshman
Connor Hill
of Post Falls (Ida.) scored eight points for the Vandals off the bench Friday at OSU.
Sophomore guard
Stephen Madison
of Portland (Ore.) kept his hot streak alive with a career-high 12 rebounds, and came up just short of a double-double with nine points and tied his career high with five assists.
Senior guard
Landon Tatum
knocked down seven of his 10 free throw attempts and finished with 13 points, six assists and six rebounds.
In the post junior
Kyle Barone
and senior
Djim Bandoumel
combined for 14 points, 10 rebounds, three blocked shots and two assists on 7-of-11 shooting.
